The draft constitution consultation closes on October 6th. Thank you to those who have commented so far, but we would like to hear from far more of you before we finalise it. A clear set of guidelines for how we operate benefits every member, and this is your chance to shape it.

Singapore Gateway
The Company has introduced the Singapore gateway policy. We note the change and recognise that it benefits some members.
Some members raised their views on this with the previous representatives. In summary, sentiment was mixed. Members who use the gateway valued the easier commute, and most of the concern was directed at the OFX flexible days rather than the gateway itself. A recurring worry was that a temporary arrangement can become the permanent rule, and could lead to wider changes across other bases. Some members suggested that OFX days might be acceptable in exchange for a guaranteed number of days off.
The current policy removes the requirement to request flexible days off. However, members may still be asked to move their days off to suit the schedule, and are asked to consider the schedule when making day off requests. We are interested in how this affects commuting costs, and whether the Company will continue to balance BDs and home days.
It is unclear whether this is a one-off or a step towards other flexible base options. Our concern is that contracts specify bases and gateways, while this policy sits outside the contract, which makes it harder to enforce and control over the long term.
